Thanks to everyone who has replied. It’s really helpful to know that booking a package still means paying to reserve seats (I’m only Blue tier with BA Executive club).
Thanks again to everyone who responded! |

Next time you book with BA, see if you can book AA codeshare flights. I didn’t realise until after I’d booked but my flights on the way home are AA codeshare and we don’t have to pay for seat selection. So I’ve booked my seats for the return journey.
I usually always book seats on flights and pay but I read a very long thread on here about peoples experiences of flying with children and almost all said they’d been sat together. I’m regularly checking the seating plan on my booking to see if it’s getting full (quite a long way out yet) and if it looks like there’s a chance we won’t be together, I’ll book. |

I would price up flight only then add a car, vs fly/drive.
See if any difference and you can use it if any to book seats

The majority, but not all, of BA’s long haul fleet now has WiFi. If you’re flying LGW-MCO, I think the whole LGW 777 fleet now has it. There are a couple of 777s without WiFi, but they normally operate out of LHR and would be pretty unlikely to be used, even as substitutes, on the MCO route.
Less familiar with Aer Lingus, but think it’s also aircraft-dependent. My understanding is that the A330 and the A321NeoLR have WiFi, the 757 does not. With both airlines, you have to pay for WiFi if flying economy. Edited at 04:14 PM. |

as someone else said, if you book a BA fly drive, 1 or both of your legs may be operated by AA in which case they give free seat bookings on that (or both) legs

I looked at booking seats for our flights today (flight & car package) we are travelling in Club but to choose the bubble in advance was £318 EACH WAY! I was horrified & we’ll take our chance 24 hours before. I still can’t wrap my head around that price! 😬
