The full size suv I think have 7 seats, the standard and intermediate have 5.

The mazda cx9 has 5 seats doesn't it? so I guess it would be standard or intermediate.

Isn't the standard and intermediate the same car class though?

Standard will have 7 seats - think Hyundai Santa Fe

Full Size - think Chevy Tahoe - will be bigger but won't have more than 7/8 seats

Intermediate - think Ford Escape (Kuga) - will have 5 Seats

Unfortunately the car rental firms will mix the classes or give you a lower grade car if they can get away with it

Get to know the ACRISS/SIPP codes for what you want/paid for

This article will help:

PS Alamo, Enterprise and National are all the same company

You may get a 7 seater, but Standard is 5 seats. Cars like Jeep Grand Cherokee, GMC Terrain.

Have had 7 Seater Santa Fe, 7 seater Chevy Traverse as Standard SUVs. SFAR The Kia Sorrento and Nissan Pantsfinder and Ford Explorer listed on the National website are 7 seaters too - also SFAR

To my knowledge the Hyundai Santa Fe Sport has 5 Seats and Jeep Cherokee Latitude (Not Grand version) has 5 seats. the Toyota RAV4 and Ford Escape also have 5 seats

These are Intermediate IFAR

Have a look at the SUV tab at: alamo/en_US/car-rental/cars.html

It doesn't really matter unless you must have more than 5 seats as the actual vehicle sizes have all become very similar.

one thing i found useful was to research the cars that can potentially be there and then look at the cars website for the specs

for example if you get a chevvy - look for the words AWD (means its a 4 wheel drive) and LTZ - LTZ indicates that it is the highest spec car that they do in the range (it goes from LS / LT / LTZ) - the higher the spec the better features a car will have (like bluetooth / sat nav etc)
