Car hire question

We have a car booked, I know they swipe a credit card for security when you pick the car up but do they actually take any money from the card?

I think they pre-auth a certain amount just to be sure there are funds available. It may be ring fenced but they don't actually take it. From memory I was told it was $300 when I asked at the Alamo desk

No they don't take any money or put a hold on your card
