It's definitely there as we went down it- they opened it for use when the forward stairs was shut due to a helicopter evacuation we had on the first sea day. But it seems like it would be a big job to covert it to passenger use!
It was annoying not to have the central staircase but we could live with it as our cabin was forward. If you had a midships cabin I can see it being a pain in the bum. |

We did the exact same itinery on Britannia in June. It was our first cruise so don't have much to compare it to.
I agree about the food and service in the MDR, it was quite hit and miss and we were quite underwhelmed. We enjoyed all the ports including Olden where we went kayaking in the morning and then on the Loen skylift. It was a very expensive day! I'm not sure cruising is for us, it just didn't really do it for us. Maybe P&O wasn't the best choice for us, we found it a bit formal and staid.

I think we paid £35 each in advance for the Macarons class, on board they were charging £45. Some classes were more expensive especially if any of the 'food heroes' were hosting them- we had Eric Lanlard on board and I think his was really pricey which I guess is justified!

we did the family class. Off the top of my head it was £45 for the child and the adult was free.

I am thinking of booking the Fjords cruise on the Iona next August. As you say the prices are really good and nothing else comes close.
But I've cruised before with Royal Caribbean, NCL and Disney and loved them all, so I'm worried I'm going to be disappointed. The ship is a big part of the holiday for me and we love all the quizzes, game shows etc. that the American cruise lines do, will there be enough to do on P and O? The cruise is for my 50th Birthday and asked other family members to join us, so we are trying to keep the cost down, but would I be better to stick with what I know (RC or NCL) and pay a bit (or a lot) more?
