Whistler in the summer ? Or ?
Thanks to everyone's canada/usa suggestions our return flights to Vancouver are booked!
Anyone done Whistler in the summer and can pass on their experience? Also, any advice on Vancouver area in general, eg, how long to spend in city? Best area to stay, would be a room or apartment for 4. Cheers |

We went last summer for 3 nights and really enjoyed it, plenty to do in the summer.
We spent a day up on the mountains, walking and exploring via the Peak to Peak. Another day we went white water rafting which was great. Lots of waterfalls and places nearby, you could easily get to Squamish by car to and visit there also. If you do go look to visit the Train Wreck, totally unique tourist sight. We spent 4 nights in Vancouver which was plenty for us, lots to see here as well and easy to fill the amount of time we had. I’ve done a trip report with loads of info on both in but ask me any questions, more than happy to answer these if I can |

We did:
4 nights Vancouver - was enough to do everything we wanted. 6 nights Ucluelet on VI - a highlight! 7 nights Seattle - we found lots to do but I know others weren’t so keen 6 nights Whistler - a bit of a let down. Though there was plenty to keep us busy!

We were there last summer and spent 3 nights in Whistler and 4 nights in Vancouver. That was about right for us. I’ve got a Trip Report in my signature if you’d like a bit more information about what we did there.
With regards to an area to stay in Vancouver, we loved Yaletown. It had a lovely feel about it, with lots of restaurants close by. I really liked being able to wander in the evening and it felt very safe. We’d originally looked at another area, which had lots of shopping close by, but I wasn’t sure how it would be at night once the shops were closed. Yaletown would be my number one choice of location when we return in the future.

Meant to add in Vancouver we stayed at Times Square Inns & Suites. Lots of different sized apartments with a reception too. Right near Stanley Park and an ideal spot for us. Starbucks underneath and Safeway across the road so easy to eat in if you didn’t want to go out but lots of local restaurants too.
There were 3 of us and lots of space, beds very comfortable too.

I've been looking at all your trip reports and everywhere looks great! Sadly we only have 15 nights and we aren't keen on driving miles!
Thanks for the tips. |

Are you only looking at Vancouver and Whistler for your trip or are you thinking about another destination too, that may be closer than the Rockies? If so, I think Mel’s suggestion of Vancouver Island may work in conjunction with the other two places.

I agree it does look fantastic. My family like to do stuff rather than sit in a car, so I try to limit to 3 places max.
Which bit in whistler is good to stay anyone? I never realised it was so big, was thinking it would be like Blue Mountain in Ontario which we loved. Cheers. |
