6 months on passport to Spain?
DD is going to Spain on a football tour in April, and team organiser is saying we must have more than 6 months on passport when they travel. DD's runs out in Sept.
I thought things were same until Jan 2021 as we're in Brexit transition till then , so ok as long as in date for travel dates, and I think the gov.uk site says this but it is a wee bit ambiguous. I'm also not sure if this is another case of travel company saying must be +6 months but that's not true. Sorry so long winded, but want to be sure before I go contradicting organisers info on the footie mums thread , and I'm not going on the trip so don't want her being mortified and left behind at airport! |

I’ve just been checking my sons passport as I was going to get him a new one as it runs out 29th August but now I’m not sure whether to renew or not. We go to Europe, April, May and August. I checked the gov website and it says as long as it is valid for length of stay it it ok until 31st December 2020, then you will need 6 months validity. I’m unsure what to do but I’ve answered my own question! The new blue passports are being rolled out from beginning of this year and from summer will all be blue but you can still keep using the burgundy ones ( just something else I’ve just read)

I agree that you don't need at least 6 months on passport until New Year.
This is Government site. gov.uk/guidance/passport...e-after-brexit On a different note re passport. Once the new rules take effect in January 2021 the EU are likely to consider a passport valid for 10 years only from date of issue. So any extra time added to a passport due to early renewal, will probably not be acceptable in EU from January 2021. This is spoken about too in the above link.

Thanks folks, that's what I thought.
Also, as she's going to be 15 on her birthday this year and her passport is still valid for our summer holiday, we're intending to wait until she's 16 and get an adult passport then. |
