Most flight only bookings are not covered by ATOL which is aimed at package holidays. Did you book anything else at the same time, maybe a hotel or car?

If it is ATOL covered you should have got an ATOL certificate at the time of booking (usually as an attachment on link in the confirmation email).

tui/destinations/i...and-conditions
tui/destinations/b...tandc?ptype=FO

Did you get an ATOL certificate?

Not booked with TUI, so no idea whether you can log in to their site and see your booking and whether there is a certificate in there.

We had a flight only booking with TUI this year and it did include an ATOL certificate. We didn't have any other component booked with them

There was nothing attached to the email confirmation but I did receive a hard copy of the booking in the post a few days later, and the ATOL certificate was attached to that.

I booked a package yesterday and got my ATOL certificate at the bottom of the confirmation. I didn’t think you go one with flight only though but I may be wrong.

If you did a flight only is there something you can add to your insurance that would cover you if you never got a ATOL certificate from TUI

those that book flight only, what do you do

I'm flight only with tui next year. No it doesn't have package protection, but so far tui have cancelled any holiday/flight where there is fco advice not to fly or quarantine on return. I'm confident if things aren't back to normalish next summer tui will be issuing refunds again. Ive also got insurance with staysure who look to be covering every covid eventuality

I book DIY so nearly always book flight only. I have never done anything extra over and above normal travel insurance. I would say I have not had ABTA / ATOL protection for the last twenty five years of travelling. Obviously before this year when I have not been anywhere, I have used operators with very little chance of going bankrupt whilst I am travelling so it is not something I have ever worried about.
