I thought they meant they didn’t have a problem getting a studio booked at the 7 month window for Aulani, however, they couldn’t get a studio for California and had to book a 1 bed instead.

We've managed three trips to VGC.
First time in a 1 bed was booked bang on 7 months.
Same again for a studio but had to waitlist a couple of nights, and the final trip in a studio was booked one night at a time by stalking the website.
It's definitely do-able but takes patience and perserverance.

Aulani was a lot easier but that was a 1 bed OV at 7 months no bother.

sorry that's correct could not get a studio at 7th month window at VGC.

I asked exactly this question on here a couple of years ago and got similar responses. I booked August 2020 (now cancelled) at the 7 month mark. I could not get a studio or 2 bed at Grand Californian at all. Nothing came up at all and I checked daily until Covid. I did manage to get 2 x studios at Aulani but did have to play around with the dates and also wait for a couple of dates. We changed it to a 2 bed and that was easy enough to do at 5-6 months out.

Don’t look at the hotel rooms or standard studios as these are rarely available at 7 months if you are travelling in the summer hols.
