I do not think it is nonsense. Take a look at the sea temperatures here nodc.noaa.gov/dsdt/cwtg/all.html
You will see the Gulf Coast is warmer for similar latitudes. That having been said both sides are plenty warm enough to swim in especially during Summer and Autumn. |

That's Ok I'll just toss my 35 years experience of living here out the window. I'm sure you folks back in the U.K. know better. and it's not worth arguing over.

Vero is good. For old world florida try Lake Worth, it's just below Palm Beach. DH goes every year to visit a mate and I've been lots. Delray beach is a good spot too.

I thought it was the warm water current the North Atlantic Drift that made the water so warm not the latitude. This goes up both sides of Florida so in theory the temperature would be the same on both coasts. Still prefer the Gulf Coast though!

Recommendations for beach stay between Orlando & Miami
Hi, looking for any recommendations for a good beach resort for two nights after leaving Orlando and heading for Miami. Love the look of the west coast beaches (especially Siesta Key) but would rather stay on east coast to cut down on travelling time. Or is it worth the extra travelling time and just go west coast? Ideally would prefer a chilled relaxed beach resort rather than a very commercialised resort (as will get plenty of that in both Orlando and Miami!) - any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
