Welcome to the world of cruising
It sounds like a great trip you've got planned. We sailed with RCL around the med a couple of years ago and had a great time. I think full board simply means that all meals are included in the price, apart from the restaurants where there is an extra cover charge. If you have any specific questions, there are plenty of people on here that have a lot more knowledge of cruising than I have. What ship are you on?

Hi, we have just priced this cruise up and was going to book but a relative who was coming with us is now struggling with anxiety regarding the flight back home so we haven't bothered.
We cruised with Royal Caribbean on the Navigator of the Seas last year which was our first cruise and it was brilliant, best holiday we have been on. All food except the speciality restaurants was included and to be honest we didn't feel the need to book into these restaurants because the food was excellent and more than plentiful. We also had all alcoholic drinks included but the deal we booked included this. We booked a balcony cabin which was great but I wouldn't book one again unless the price was a deal breaker, we hardly spent anytime in there only to sleep and get showered, we didn't really use the balcony. Our son who was 14 at the time said he'd had the best holiday ever (even more than Florida! ) and is still in touch with people he met on the ship. Overall the cruise was so relaxing, we visited some fabulous places around the med and we can't wait to book another one. |

Hiya,
Thanks for your replies, both very helpful, the ship is independence of the seas. Was wondering about a balcony, because the price includes "free" upgrade to ocean view room, and a balcony is a extra £300 pp, would we really use it that much crossing Atlantic late October early November lol, we are going to add on the alcoholic drinks package but wait until we've booked the cruise as I've heard you can get 20% off at certain times when you look on my booking. Many Thanks Again Nick |

We have sailed with RCI several times and on Indy twice, beautiful ship and our favourite of them all. Like others have said full board means all food on board apart from speciality restaurants. You can purchase drinks packages but you need to be " seasoned " drinkers to get your money's worth with the packages.you can purchase just the soft drinks package .
We have had both balcony and ocean view rooms, it's nice to have the balcony just to walk out onto it in the morning but to be honest apart from that we hardly used it , if you think you would spend a lot of time on it then it's worth it but we preferred to be out and about on the ship rather than sit on the balcony .

Oh I would love to book it but already booked holiday for June next year to Jamaica for husband special birthday with group of friend...
I was looking into that ship and I have been Freedom of the Seas as similar with independence of the sea... it is a huge ship... We booked Freedom of the Sea by 2011 at Florida, At first day, I disliked it but at end of the week... I love it... lots to do, see different things as we were sailing to Caribbean for a week. My balcony was back of the ship, it was huge with two sunbed and table with two chairs... it was amazing but long walk Now when you mentioned about next year as it sound FAB . I am sure you will love it... If i have not book Jamaica, I would book this cruise, i hope there will be same for 2019? Scottishwee35

We have also sailed on FreedomOf The Seas , around the Caribbean , a sister ship to Independence Of The Seas along with Liberty Of The Seas , sailed on Liberty twice , all three are identical and lovely cruise liners , I prefer the bigger ships , we have also done Navigator and Mariner of the seas, smaller ships but still the same great food, service and entertainment . I cannot fault Royal Caribbean .

Hiya,
Thanks again for your replys, the information is much appreciated, looks like they run the cruise every year scottishwee, so you should be good for 2019, cruise 1st who I'm looking to book with, offer the free ocean view , transfer to idrive and hotel stay as a freebie, so everywhere else I've looked can't touch the price, fingers crossed gonna take the plunge and book tomorrow on my day off. We have booked onto this Cruise! very much looking forward to it, just trying to work out if the drinks package is worth it or not at nearly £50 per day...

The break even point is between 5-6 drinks, not sure how much you drink, but bear in mind that could also include premium coffees, freshly squeezed juice and non alcoholic cocktails not just alcoholic beverages. We had the ultimate drink package included in our price so didn't need to buy it this time round.
We've been a couple of times on navigator and on independence too. Indy is going into dry dock next year and there are rumours that water slides will be added. As well as addition of sabor Mexican restaurant. I'm sure you will have a great time 😁 |
