Hi there,

I have seen recently that there are some changes made to Spaceship Earth including an area with screens all the way around a model of Epcot. Is this currently open?

I've also read that the ride may be closed at the end of the year, is this true?

I’ve definitely read elsewhere, on Disney news sites that its closing for a major refurb, for 2 years late 2019/ sometime early 2020.

It’s a 2 year project it’s supposed to close after the spring or Summer season 2020 and reopen ready for Epcot’s 40th birthday in 2022.

There have been no changes to Spaceship Earth yet.

That Epcot preview area with screens all around a model of Epcot is in the old Odyssey building, which is near-ish Test Track (sort of). It’s not in Spaceship Earth. The Epcot Preview centre is currently open, yes.

And, yes, Spaceship Earth is due to close for a major refurbishment sometime soon - either in the next few months or early next year. I don’t think Disney have specified an actual date yet.

Heard from a cast member last month that it's closing Jan/Feb 2020 for 18-24 months.
