Has anyone been to Mauritius? Which area would you recommend to stay? We are considering a two week cruise (Mauritius, Reunion, Madagascar, Seychelles) but would like to have a week on Mauritius pre-cruise. Thanks for any advice.

Lovely island. We stayed at Grand Bay le cannonnier about 10 years ago. Depends which month you are going but someone told me if going in our summer which is their winter then go west coast to avoid chilly winds.

Oddly enough, I was looking at Mauritius last night and was pleasantly surprised at the prices for a luxury break.

It looks beautiful for a relaxing break but I don’t know much about it so will be following this thread for more info too 😀

We were rather fortunate in that my wife won our honeymoon in a competition... 10 days half board in Mauritius.

We stayed at a resort called Le Tousserok and it was truly exceptional. They have their own private island and all activities on there other than Scuba Diving were part of the package. There is also a golf course on that Island. Food was amazing and the chalets right on the beach.

We are off on a two centre holiday to Dubai and Mauritius in a weeks time having never been to either place before. I'm back at the end of March so will be happy to answer any questions then. We intend to hire a car in Mauritius to see the island so I should have a good overview of areas to stay and what there is to do.

And mine. We were just very, very lucky. Mauritius is pretty special wherever you go.
