Mobile East Coast turtle hatchling release...

...has anyone done this?

The egg laying dates are too early for us, but I'm wondering if the release might be as amazing?

I'm looking at the Gumbo Limbo park.

Not done it, but we have spent a lovely afternoon at the Gumbo Limbo park (I'm assuming the Boca Raton one?)

Not East Coast at all but DH was on his morning walk along the beach during our last trip around 3 weeks ago on the Gulf Coast.
He’d seen the various nest sites roped off etc since our arrival.
On this morning, he noticed the volunteers around one of the sites and witnessed the baby turtles hatching & racing to the water 😃

What a lovely experience for him

Would love to do it.

Again, not east but west coast. DH and I joined a turtle nest “walk” on our first morning. It was the last Saturday morning walk of the season, so last Saturday in July.

Here are the details. There may be something similar on the east coast. We were lucky on our walk. They excavated a nest that had hatched a few days earlier. They only expected to find shells and perhaps some dead baby turtles as there had been a high tide from a hurricane and a lot of the nests got flooded. They pulled out several live babies, no dead ones. It’s got to be one of the best things we’ve ever done in Florida. Worth getting up super early for.

What lovely stories. Thanks all. Have decided to book a couple of nights at Deerfield Beach and hope we get to see them...
