The Dibb BBC licence Referendum

Inspired by the licence fee thread and the potential decriminalisation of not having a licence - a simple question - should we keep or scrap the licence?

... and why?

Yes , keep it

Or

No, scrap it

I’ll start off - No - scrap it the BBC as a whole needs reviewing! It’s outdated.

In this day and age the BBC is quite capable of joining the other networks and being self supporting . It’s time.

Scrap it because I don’t want to pay it! I only watch Eastenders and it’s not worth it for that

I think scrap it.
There’s no reason why they shouldn’t rely on advertising.
I skip through them so it makes no odds to me but I know they bother some people

because advertising is a terrible thing that should be ignored by everybody and not forced upon us?

how anyone manages to listen to commercial radio is beyond me

Scrap it. They should advertise and then people can record and fast forward any programs they want thus avoiding the adverts.

Scrap it, I'd genuinely not miss anything produced by the BBC, other than His Dark Materials I can't remember the last time I watched/consumed anything by the BBC and object to the licence fee to own a TV to play on games consoles. And I'd be happy to pay to watch one off shows rather than have to have a fee for 357 days of not watching anything.

Radio - I can't stand local radio sorry, and the national Radio 1 is just a paid to play service now.

Web services - have started becoming as bias and bad at reporting as the news channels.

Totally against everything I stand for in terms of free market and big brother and taxation, but I voted keep:
1. It is excellent quality. When I go to US I don’t watch any TV as there’s a lack of good factual programmes that aren’t punctuated by adverts every 5 mins.
2. Good news, people say it’s left wing, liberal, pro remain etc, but I think it’s pretty impartial.
3. Will removing it be a race to the bottom?
4. Those pensioners who can’t afford it (and rich pensioners like my parents (! That should be stopped)) won’t get a service subsidised.
