Must admit I’m not looking forward to the next 2 days working in food retail 🙈

I’m in at 7am tomorrow and again on Tuesday at 8am on a till for both shifts and expecting it to be very busy with hopefully not too many rude customers and consoling myself with the thought of it being the last Christmas I’ll work as I retire in the summer 😄

We went to Aldi this morning as normal.

It was rammed but we got what we needed and got out unscathed 🤣

I did Aldi today, had planned to go to m and s first but the traffic trying to get on the car park was stupid I drove past Aldi and saw a couple of spaces so they got my business. It was no busier than a Saturday (I think? Long time since I’ve done a big shop on a Friday night/Saturday morning for donkeys years) it’s a case of needs must - today was the only free time I had to do it. I will pick up some salad on Christmas Eve if I can but if it’s not in the house now it’s not being bought!

We were going to go for the final bits tomorrow but at around 9:30 DH loudly announced as he was leaving the house ‘Let it be known that I do not want to do this’
And then disappeared off with his list!
3 hours later he’d tackled Waitrose, the farm shop and Tesco.
We received a series of texts on the family chat telling us it was ‘hell’ ‘awful’ ‘carnage’ that he wasn’t having fun and lastly to put some beer in the fridge 😂
DS saw him pull into the drive, open the boot and watched as a bottle of coke fell out and exploded so decided it would be best to assist with unloading 😆
He’s just about over his ‘ordeal’ now!

Apparently Waitrose wasn’t too bad but there wasn’t a single sprout to be seen. Leaving was a nightmare as the carpark is on a junction (bad planning)
The farm shop was ok but Tesco was ‘hell on earth’
Cars abandoned in stupid places, no trolleys, massive queues and almost impossible to get to the shelves.
However, he said they had really good stocks of everything.
We’re now done I hope.
Good luck to anyone still needing to do battle!

I remember sproutgate quite a few years ago when I worked for a supermarket
Shortage of sprouts and customers were pinching sprouts out of other customers trolleys when their backs were turned.
One woman caught someone taking her sprouts and there was uproar, it almost came to blows and security had to get between them.
Lots of customers standing watching with open mouths 🤣

Well, he did say that he saw an unattended trolley with 2 sprout trees and was tempted 🤣
He got one at the farm shop easily though. And a nice big cauliflower. What’s with all the cricket ball sized cauliflowers this week? Last week they were normal sized. Happens every year

Doing my click and collect at Tesco tomorrow late afternoon and that’s the closest I’m getting to the supermarket. I’ve had my beg box delivered from Riverford, so just the fresh turkey tomorrow and we are sorted.

I saw loads of cauliflowers in Sainsbury's. I was tempted cos they looked nice and huge but only I eat it so didn't bother.

I braved Sainsbury's this morning there were no scanners and huddles of ppl all trying to work out how to do it on phone. I opted for old school and went to a checkout desk with a human lol.
