Its not the timing of the test - 3hrs or 24 doesnt matter - it’s whether the test meets gov criteria for a Day 2 return test. Some providers like Collinson currently offer 3hr “Fit to fly” test - they are saying themselves this test currently dorsnt meet the criteria for Day 2 tests - hence they won’t be offering this (currently anyway) as Day2 test. Other providers might be different.

Just make sure you 1) use gov approved provider and 2) buy a Day2 return test ( not a departure test).

Gov rules here

Whole thing is a farce. If the Govt cared they would allow for these tests to be done at a testing centre like anyone else could. Money making at its finest.

Complete panic knee jerk reaction to the new strain.

I wouldn't mind paying at the local testing station. I know where it is and know the procedure there, they could easily add a credit card tap.

I'd be the same. Happily to pay a set fee whereas if you go private you can be charged through the nose for the exact same test. At least the government could begin to recoup some of the money lost over the last 2 years.

On their website there is a statement saying they now have the 2 day PCR test available for £43. Can't see why you can't use it.

I certainly won't be paying £99pp at Express Test Edinburgh airport.

Don't think they are in the day 2 government approved list.

£99 not a chance, I'll stick with Simply Test Me but will hang off changing to the PCR for now in case things change AGAIN by January 🤔
