Flight still going but boarders shut

Hi guys,
What happens if your flight is still going but the US boarders are closed?
I have a flight booked 10th June to NYC with virgin, booked via go to gate, they are saying I cannot make any changes and flight is paid in full 😑
I'm hoping the flight is cancelled so I get a refund, but I can see they are flying to NYC often 😭

You might be able to get a voucher but you seem to have booked with one of the less reputable on-line agents so you'll be tied to their terms and conditions.

Basically you have to rebook before then, or hope your insurance covers due to fco advice. We were booked for Turkey last October and changed to Greece as easyJet said the flight was still going. I asked how come and they said flight was still half full, funnily enough our new flight was from Gatwick at the same time, so we did see that the flight to Turkey actually did depart. Even though Turkey was technically closed!

To the OP - you might just be in luck. I am assuming you're getting the "they are flying to NYC often" from looking at the schedule on the Virgin Atlantic website - which is showing multiple daily flights.

However last week Virgin Atlantic Trade issued an update on frequencies of flights - looks like JFK is dropping to 7 flights per week, i.e. just a single daily flight.

So your flight could be cancelled. Whether Virgin then move you onto the flight that is operating is another matter... but they will only discuss this with your travel agent.

Are you flight only or a full package?

If it's flight only your only option is either goodwill of the airline or your insurance.

We travelled to Majorca last July as Ryanair were going and insurance wouldn't cover so easier to buy new insurance and go or lose over £1000 in flights.

Thanks guys, its flight only, I am hoping the flight is cancelled.
I will have to ring my insurance and see what they say.
I didn't do any research on this company, lesson learned ...

If it is cancelled I'd be doing a credit card charge back as the reviews suggest they won't refund you for a long time.
