We went to London on Saturday and had a lovely wander around the Westminster area, St James Park, Buckingham Palace etc and it was pretty quiet. We did also wander along South Bank, lots of pop up bars but absolutely rammed. Would not have felt comfortable stopping there! Also saw there had been a mini riot there about 9pm! We booked in The Ivy Victoria and sat outside which was very nice. We popped into a pub before that without booking no trouble, and even better it was a Greene King pub and we’d already got the app! We saw a show in the evening which felt very emotional after theatres being closed so long! The show had been postponed 3 times before this!

The Emirates air line cable cars across the Thames along at Greenwich are good too.
Another vote for Kensington Palace, it's a lovely day out. They have Princess Diana's wedding dress on display at the moment.
I also really enjoyed the Buckingham Palace and Clarence House tours. I am not sure if they are doing them at the moment due to Covid but if they are then they are well worth a visit.

Recommend the sky garden, you can go and just have a drink, take in the views or there’s a restaurant too

Just back from night in London with DH's late Christmas present of the Tower Bridge Experience. Would recommend it and I even managed the glass floor! Very interesting. Brilliant views too.

Today we went to the Museum of Brands at Ladbroke Grove. Fascinating from pre-Victorian right up to today and brought back lots of memories of childhood food and toys! After that we walked down Portobello Road, past all the embassies to Kensington Palace (didn't go in) and park.

We stayed at the Tower Hotel on a great Travelzoo deal with Bridge view and breakfast. I saw they had another recently for same plus entry to the Tower of London for £79 pp.

I've just booked a free exhibition of Noel Coward's life at the Guildhall Art Gallery; there's also a Roman amphitheatre on the site too, found when it was getting rebuilt.

We went to Sky Garden a few weeks ago. It was far quieter than it normally is and was really lovely. Checked in, straight in the lift and up.

Another vote for south bank for their food stalls and Covent garden for the entertainers and shops. DBF has family in London and we’ve been quite a few times. Camden is great for its markets and street food. If you like your beer there’s a pub called “thirsty bear” that you pour your own pints, or most tables have a tap on them already. Or for wine there’s a place called “Vagabond” which again they have hundreds of bottles and you can load up a cash card and pour your own glass

TravelZoo had an offer for bottomless brunch at Hard Rock Hotel for £30 for two Monday to Wednesday. DDs bought it for fathers day and we hope to book it in end of August.
