I had a problem with neck and shoulder pain and after a recommendation on here l bought "pillowowy" (spelling might be wrong) ones and for me they are wonderful, never had any more discomfort, a pleasure to sleep on.

Ifs a small tubular pillow

Is the one you mention a giant version of that ? Not sure I have seen them
Similar. More like a normal pillow from the 1950’s so brown feathers in it but at least 4ft long.
They made pillow cases to fit them.
My late Mum had them right through until the 1980’s in her house.

And if you shared a bed with someone you put it down the middle. I mean a family member not partner obviously. Like at Christmas or something not all the time.

Was a bolster pillow a bit like this? I got this to realign my back in bed. Does improve it slightly by stopping me twisting onto my stomach.

As per Essex Sue. Pillows are great for stopping you turning or holding a leg up etc. My Wife bought a small one to keep her legs apart after her hip replacement as she sleeps on her side. You cannot allow the upper leg to impact on how you lie.

Wow thanks all, I wasn't expecting to come back to so many posts!

Sound like the Tempur ones are a bit marmite-ish according to the responses on here. There seems to be a couple of groups of consensus around John Lewis or Pillowly though so I'll look into those and fingers crossed choose something that works!

I don’t know what they use but we both like the ones at the Premier Inn.

Yes. Both me and DH have recently (within the last year) bought different £90 pillows and they’ve been a game changer. We both had different needs and thankfully our research paid off on brand and which model as we both love the ones we got.
