Tell me about Hertz car hire

Hi everyone.
We are currently planning our summer 2022 holiday. I have had a little look at car hire and can't believe the cost (going for 3 weeks) and some of the current costs are more than our 2019 (5 week stay).

Hertz are coming out the cheapest at the moment (for an small suv).

We have never used them before and wondering about any hidden insurance costs.

We like to have the maximum insurance cover with additional drivers.

Can anyone shed a little bit of light o them and what sort of insurance cover I should look for if book.

our dates are 5th Aug-26th Aug 2022 and ALAMO are coming out at £1771 while Hertz is £580 (if I pre pay) or £650 at the location.

This seems to be a massive difference and I'm wondering if I've missed something?

Any help would be great.

We’ve hired with Hertz many times and as long as you book via one of the UK sites it’ll cover everything you need. If you join the Gold Club first and book direct with Hertz you should be able to go straight to the garage.

OP. As per Lisa above.

I have checked your dates and my prices are cheaper but I use an Amex Code. I can see a full size car for £462 and an Intermediate SUV for £464.

If it was me I would book now!

I booked on UK website for 14 days Easter holidays as Gold Member and paid £431 for Minivan. This is prepaid rate but can cancel for free if needed. Jumped on the deal. Just hope I have a car when I get there.

We've almost hit the "pay" button but then stumbled on their bankruptcy scare. They have managed to secure financing a little unsure now!

The car hire price is almost too good to be true compared to others.

Just looked on virgin for their car hire price and it actually works out cheaper than the Hertz deal.

The hertz deal didn't include additional driver. Once this was added on the overall cost jumped to £850 whilst with Virgin the cost (including additional driver) came in at £760.

Decisions, decisions! Do I book now or wait?

Book with 2 or 3 Companies and cancel as need be.

Hertz has in effect been bought out of debt and will be solvent next month.
New owners unsurprisingly a venture capital organisation.
As MRTM make a free cancellation booking use a CC to cover your butt.

I didn't think of doing this. Brilliant idea. Thankyou. I know some people might think the prices I've found are OTT but I don't fancy paying nearly£1700 for car hire either.
Once again many thanks

Just a slightly off topic question - does anyone know the price of the Hertz SuperCover? We are going mid September and booked the managers special direct with Hertz & are wondering on cost of their SuperCover Product?
