Probably a stupid question...
I will blame it on the lurgy.
I have a trip planned for Sept 22. My initial plan was to fly Manchester to Vancouver indirect (by staying overnight at Heathrow), then fly Vancouver to Los Angeles, then after all the fun fly Los Angeles Manchester indirect (again staying overnight at Heathrow). I've since discovered Virgin Atlantic fly Manchester Los Angeles direct, but don't have a Vancouver offer. I'm now thinking it might be easier to book return flights Manchester - Los Angeles, do a couple of nights by the beach in LA, then fly to Vancouver, do the city and my cruise, then fly back to do Disney. Dummy price looking shows it be cheaper too as well as saving some time. Plus my experience with virgin has been good so flying with them would be OK. My question is is this allowed? I don't know much about immigration rules other than needing a valid passport, onward tickets, etsa (for USA) and eta (for Canada). See, probably a stupid question! |

Provided the borders are open then I don't see anything that is not allowed.

It would be allowed, the US may ask you a few questions about why you're back again but you have a valid reason and all your bookings in order. You do US immigration at the airport in Canada and as you'll have entered so recently they won't stamp you in again and may not even take pics/fingerprints again. They didn't when I flew through Newark to Toronto.
However, BA had absolute bargain prices to Vancouver last autumn. We were booked out to Van and home from JFK, the economy price was £380 but we had Avios so booked into PE and then upgraded but at those prices it would be rude not to go really so I'd keep an eye on BA as it may be that they are much cheaper than Virgin for into Van and out of LAX. The BA Van flight leaves late afternoon too so you wouldn't need to overnight if you didn't want to. |

Thank you, I definitely would prefer to fly into vancouver and out of LA, it's just the indirectness that scares me, going more than coming back. I remember a dibb thread where someone's flight into London was cancelled and they had a mad dash across the country! The fact the BA flight leaves later in the day I suppose is a plus... I just wish it was cheaper to purchase one way tickets!
