I figure that Niagara will be a little tacky.. but it is at the end of the day, Niagara. An absolute highlight for me will be that night in the Hilton, sipping Wine and taking in a view from the room of both Niagara and Horseshoe falls, illuminated.

I may yet reach Vegas on 31 August as last stop on a Road/Air/Road trip after seeing SFO, Monterey, Big Sue, Pismo, Solvang, Universal, a famous Fountain and a Bar at Warner Bros, Davis Monthan, Tombstone, a corner in Winslow Arizona, Hrand Canyon and Hoover Dam. I will stay in Vegas for 2 nights and doubtless be underwhealmed. I would never travel specifically to Vegas.

It is very tacky (as is Vegas IMHO) BUT the Falls are awesome (a word I dont use but it fits the bill here) and definitely worth a visit and your plans are exciting and fun. I am positive you will enjoy your visit to them and are well prepared for the tackiness but nothing can prepare you for the roar of the falls - they really are breathtaking . Vegas - I wouldnt go back even if someone paid me but I have been (multiple times for work) and that list if ticked and you need to do it once in your life.

That is how I view Vegas. I cannot comment as I have never been (although I have preconceptions). This is my opportunity, tacked on the end of a bucket list and also in order to reduce flight costs.

It's all about perspective - where you choose to look; what you choose to focus on, isn't it? What you describe, MF, is what I remember.

When you view the various websites for the Hilton, it should come out sub £200 for a 2 bedroom apartment with 2 doubles and a king size bed that has ‘premium’ views of both Niagara and Horseshoe falls… and a whirlpool bath.

This actually does not seem much of a premium over its rivals in the area.

For us, it was a very simple decision.

This is the view that they advertise for the room I booked. If it is half as good as this, I will be blown away. I would pay the £186 or so just for our family of 4 to gawp at it.

This was the view from our room at the Marriott on the Falls.
Absolutely loved it at night, seeing the falls all lit up and changing colours.
Hearing the roar of the falls is something I will never forget.
Truly amazing!
