Lost our old dog

Yesterday our lovely old Staffie, Boris, died. He’s the dog in my profile signature.
He was daft as a brush, looked scary, but was stupidly soft and afraid of plastic bags.
He had become very infirm, and yesterday he collapsed, with shallow breathing and was very distressed.
The vet confirmed what we thought, that this was the end for him and we said our goodbyes.
It’s been a very hard day today, we’ve never been without a dog, and you forget how hard and painful this bit is.
