I binge read your trip report yesterday! The Discovery 2 docked next to the Explorer 2 when we were on and it was great seeing the crew of both ships seeing each other for the first time in a long time.

These are the 2 that I’m looking at...

I’d like to try the Discovery 2 and was told many times on Explorer 2 that the layout was better as there was a big central atrium, but as we need to go in the school holidays I’m drawn towards the Explorer 2 as it’s adults only.

They both look like great itineraries. Do you think cruises will be able to operate in August?

Erm, I'm on the side of probably not but it's nice to have something to look forward to. I had 2 TUI holidays cancelled last year and TUI were very good at getting them changed to something else, and adding on a generous incentive.

I’ve got flights booked for August snd I am feeling the same way.

I’d love a cruise soon too but I can’t decide when to aim for.

The discovery 2 is a fab ship, but then I haven’t found a bad ship yet so I’m easily pleased.
Both are great itineraries. I have cruised to Dubrovnik, Split, Venice, Corfu, Koper, Kotor, all are really fab. I think I’m leaning towards the first one as Dubrovnik is so fab

Update - I've booked Marella Explorer 2 for this August. 2 weeks in an inside cabin, I'll keep an eye on the cabin upgrade prices but will be very happy if we get to go away. Thanks for everyone's opinions.

This is the itinerary and I'm excited to go to lots of new places.

Been to quite a few of those places , Dubrovnik Split and Kotor are gorgeous, sailing in to Kotor is really pretty so make sure that you are on deck for that , you'll probably be on a tender , we were when we went but a couple were docked

To answer the original question, we both love having a balcony and haven’t had a cabin without one, we do use it a lot though. I don’t think I would like having an inside cabin, even with a virtual porthole, though I would consider an outside cabin.
The cruise you’ve booked looks fab, you are visiting some beautiful places, when in Hvar, have a climb up to the fort for some spectacular views.
