The ‘guide’ on a Smart LG TV

When I press the ‘guide’ button, is the resulting ‘guide’ downloaded from the internet? I ask because the ‘guide’ takes ages to show and then only half the channels load up. The same thing happens with the Panasonic set top box recorder thingy. It is totally infuriating.

No the guide comes over “the air” (aerial) on the TV - if you are talking / channels where 101 is BBC1 in HD. Same on the Panasonic box too if that has the Freeview logo on it.

My guess would be that your area has had a change to the freeview channels and you need to do a rescan to pick up all the channels again.

Is there an option somewhere to do a rescan?
If you give me make / models I can have a look on net for how to do it.

Ours is fine but there was an update a couple of weeks ago ( NE Scotland).

Thanks both. We do usually do all the updates (and by golly they are frequent) but in case we ignored the message I have just done one. Just the same. Now I know it comes via the aerial, perhaps we will get that checked. Thanks again for your help.
