Special Assistance - Tipping Question
If you use Special Assistance, and someone escorts your wheelchair companion to immigration control etc., do you tip, and if so, how much. Or does it depend on which country you are in. Thanks.

I tipped at MCO as they pushed me from the aircraft, through immigration (disabled line), collected my luggage and took me all the way to the Mears transportation. I tipped $5 but on reflection, it should have been more.
My problem though is should I tip at MAN when I receive a good service from the assistants who help me through security, wheel me to the gate and on to the plane? It's as if I've become conditioned to only tip in the USA. Am I on my own in thinking this way? |

If they do their job properly then a tip shows your appreciation at either end of the journey. (Their pay isn't that fantastic.) But if they are grumpy so and sos which we have encountered at Heathrow they get nowt!

Thanks very much for the response. We will now be more aware. This has been our first year using special assistance and it was a great help.

I didn't know their assistance extended to the parking garage do they also wait while you queue at the car hire place?
Last time in MCO our guy left us when we were at the luggage belt. We didn't think differently since we didn't know (first time needing help) Yes we tipped the guy he was great however the immigration guys were horrible two of them refused to take my son and I and just wanted to take my wife forcing us to queue in the normal line. Luckily the porter just kept trying until a border agent was kind enough to take the whole family.
