Changing plan a bit - has anyone got advice on car rental during a cruise? If we picked up from Miami airport and hired the main car for two weeks, have you found it ok to drop at Fort Lauderdale with no added cost with any companies in particular? Do some charge and some not? We’ve been advised it’s cheaper to do it that way than pay to park the hire car for five days while we cruise and before we head home same day cruise gets in.

We are doing our first cruise next year and Bats on the cruise forum has been so helpful.
Her advice is to get rid of the car (Port Canaveral for us) and re hire one to continue the holiday. Hope that helps.

There are no extra charges for different pick up/drop off locations in Florida.

I agree with the Above - When we went on our cruise (although this was 8.5 years ago now! Wow how time files!) we flew in to Miami & picked up a car for a few days from the airport, dropped off somewhere else (as MrTM says, as long as still in Florida there were no extra charges) and then had a seperate booking to pick up another car when we returned from the cruise after 7 days and we drove that one up to Orlando and had it there for a week before we flew home out of MCO and left the car at the airport there - was much cheaper doing that and not paying parking charges and no additional chargers for the different pickup / drop offs.

I am DYING To go on a cruise again we loved it!

People always mention Alamo Brits on here. I'm surprised Alamo Dibb doesn't get more of a mention considering...

alamo/deals/dibb/

At least they can't insist on seeing a guide book then!

SMAX said this was a very old link that's not advertised anymore. Plus it's still only 10% anyhow the same as Brits.

Nobody has ever been asked for the book.

Ah right, when I googled it, I read some people were asked, could be lies of course. That's when I saw the Dibb link and the prices are identical so thought nothing to lose.

Urban myth I think.
The Dibb offer doesn't give a 2nd driver free I dont think albeit I could be wrong.

Ah, you could be right about that as I'm the only driver in our party.
