If you are getting a 3 sim, just remember to activate it by making a call in the Uk before you go, if you don't do this, then it won't work abroad.
Thank you. I have the SIM already and will make sure I make a call.text before I go.

Thanks again.

Because the phone is going to be used for an emergency contact to/from family back home I want to make sure it all works before we go but thanks for the suggestion.

ETA the All-in-one £20 from your screenshot is the one we buy.
Agreed - that sounds the best way to go - thank you.

don't forget this bit...

* You can use up to 9GB of this allowance in any of our Feel At Home destinations at no extra cost. Use over this, but within your allowance in our Feel At Home in Europe destinations costs up to 0.78p/MB.

So basically, you get 9 Gb of data with the £20 & £25 addons

We've used 3 SIM three times all we do is put £20 add on onto the SIM, we use it for the sat nav and is always been enough we go for 14 days, we're getting it again for June this year, we've kept the SIM we've used for last two visits, we just 'wake it up' the night before we go to the airport by putting£20 on to it, as it's good for 28 days once money is put onto it.

Just for anyone who might be in a position to swap there every day sim to a sim-only deal, I've just changed from EE to Three permanently on a sim-only 12 month contract. £12 a month for 12GB, unlimited texts and unlimited calls. Best deal I could find while at home but also useful for holidays as no need to swap out the sim etc.

As well as putting £20 onto the aim don't you have to convert it into an add On? As you can guess I'm still learning!

Thank you

First,y not all three contracts have feel at home so please check.

I have a three contract and EE one for my business and one for my personal. When we went last year I got my wife a three PAYG. The year before 8 had problems with the data on my contract but my wife on PAYG was fine. Before I went last year I went in to the three shop and checked all was dandy and I was told it was. Guess what the PAYG worked fine mine did not, luckily I have US roaming in my EE and that worked fine in fact that was much quicker than my wife’s Three

I have a 3 contract which does not have feel at home included. I just pop into the 3 store the week before i go away and buy the £20 sim. The day before i fly out I swap the sims over and make a quick call to ensure its working. I dont tell anyone the new number as we all use wattsapp and that still works fine. Usually have enough data left when i get back to keep me going for a few days until i remember where I hid the original sim
