Just got back - Highs and Lows
Just got back from 3 amazing days in DLP staying in the Disneyland hotel.
Highs: The hotel - it is amazing, well worth the extra if your budget allows, the location and décor is truly fabulous, was a really magical experience. We had a terrace room that over looked the fountains at the front of the hotel too. Big Thunder Mountain - Loved this ride, by far my favourite of the trip, had to fast pass it though. Rode in the day and evening - was even more thrilling in the dark. Illuminations - Whilst I am a dreams fan, this didn't disappoint, watching with my family was magical and we all had lumps in our throats at the end. Parade - Seeing my little boys face light up as the floats come past was a moment I'll never forget! Lows: Buffalo bills - Hate to say it but I was really underwhelmed and the food was awful Probably something I'd never bother with again. The food in general - Found it really difficult to find a decent meal and people letting there kids finger the food in the buffet then put it back for other people to eat was really off putting, I know this is something you find in buffets the world over, but none the less wasn't pleasant! Crowds - We had children with us and so could only include one week day due to time off of school. Friday was perfect, the sun was out we watched Illuminations in T-shirts! Didn't queue for longer than 10 minutes for every ride we wanted to go on. However Saturday and Sunday were ridiculously busy - 120 minutes for Crushes Coaster in extra magic hours?! They really need to fast pass that ride! Over all a magical trip - but really would stick to mid week days in future (as we normally do) weekends are crazy, queues for food even at 9:30 at night were about 20 people deep for each line.

Glad you had a lovely time. Shame about the food - personally I think the nicer table service restaurants can be really good, especially Remy, Captain Jack's, Walt's etc, but we tend not to bother with the counter service. Never seen kids messing with the buffets but then we tend to go in term time. Try not to think about it...!
They did try FP for Crush but it doesn't work because of the way it loads. It just leads to a FP queue as long as the standby queue. I am not convinced that the new EMH in the Studios will be much help!
