We pick up ours on the first morning at AK - they seem the quietest... this time we also bought magic bands at the park entrance, they linked them all up for us. Took very little time indeed.

let's make it simple without Disney Jargon
A "ticket" will only exist on your MyDisneyExperience account. You need to sign up for such an account if you don't already have one, and add all party members under family and friends (mydisneyexperience menu) disneyworld.disney.go/ That's where everything is, and that's were you'll be making your fastpass+ reservations (skip the regular line for up to 3 attractions, at one park, per day) You will need to make those reservations 30 days in advance if not staying onsite, or 60 days in advance if staying onsite. DO THEM as soon as you can. To do them, your tickets/vouchers, or whatever, need to be associated (linked) to your MyDisneyExperience Account you can also do that on the MDX (MyDisneyExperience) app. then when you're in Florida, you have a choice on how to use your tickets (remember they only exist online, on your MyDisneyExperience account Solution numero 1 : you can buy a Magic Band. They can only be bought in Florida. You can get them in the parks, at Disney hotels. You can also get them at MCO, at the Earport shop (but mind a 10% surcharge there because of airport fees) basic Magic Bands cost around $12.99 per person. you can link the magic bands to your mydisneyexperience account by entering on the app/site the number that appears on the back of the Magic Band, or you can ask the Cast Member to do it for you. If you're staying onsite, you get free magic bands, you just need to customise/order them from the "magic band and cards" menu in MyDisneyExperience (website only) If you have a magic band from a previous visit you can reuse it, but in this case this "tutorial" will be old news for you - solution number 2 : you will need to visit a ticket window at a park in order to exchange your voucher for actual, credit card size, ticket (physical media) either solution will allow you to access your tickets stored on your MyDisneyExperience account. They're just two shapes for the same thing. Edited at 04:09 PM. |

Just to clarify, you don't need a MyDisneyExperience account to have a ticket and get into the parks.
You can swap the voucher for a plastic ticket, scan it at the entrance to get into a theme park, and then book fastpasses at the kiosks on the day all without an account. But without a Disney account you can't prebook fastpasses before you arrive.

Thanks so much for all the replies. Have taken the plunge and booked with expedia. It has saved us £300 as booked 4 adult and 3 child tickets!
Will download mde app in the next day or so then ring Disney to link. I'm going to try and book a night at the Disney camp site which someone recommended.. we arrive on thurs 19th April and Hoping for our first park day to be Saturday 21st april. Have managed to get onto the us site but seems like no availabilty that Saturday to take advantage of free magic bands and 2 days free pakring. Find it hard to believe as it's a random Saturday in April. Any thoughts?

I definitely see availabilty for the campsites on April 21st for 1 night but only preferred left at $143 + tax
there also are pop up campsites at $81 + tax if you're arriving the next day (22nd) if you want an explanation for the random saturday without regulat campsite ... well ... consider you're not the only one booking a throwaway campsite on saturday (start of vacations for many) to avoid paying for parking and magic bands and have 60 days FP+. And 2 and a half months out is quite short notice for a disney booking. Edited at 02:36 PM. |

We have magic bands but they are 4 years old so assume that they won’t work anymore. They still show on MDE app
Looking at buying the Expedia vouchers as cheapest option. We have booked a throwaway campsite to be able to book fast passes at 60days. On the 1st Disney day we plan on going to AK for extra morning hour 8am opening and plan to be there 7:30. Will the ticket booths be open that early to exchange the vouchers? You used to be able the change vouchers at Downtown Disney, is this still an option as we are there a couple days earlier.

Thank you Tinker-mum.
Don’t want to pick the bands up from campsite that morning and loose precious time at AK and didn’t want to queue for an hour to get the plastic tickets. A trip to Disney springs sounds like the best option. 😊

We plan to pick the bands up once we leave the park. Didn’t want to waste time in the morning.
