I share your sentiment CJC about being mad but its hard to look past the current BA offers.
No definitely not correct that airlines cancel flights if FCO advise is not to travel. Many flights will be cancelled as there are not enough passengers, but flights can still operate and some will. If the flight is going, it may be necessary to take a voucher rather than a cash refund.

I think in this case it’s not the FCO advice it’s the fact that the US won’t let us in that is causing the flights to be cancelled. Until that changes, none of us are going anywhere.

I’m really tempted to book a Flydrive for May. It’s only £350 deposit with BA.

I booked our flights for 17 Apr because £900 for Upper Class was too good a deal to turn down. I think the chances of the flight happening are 50/50 at best so I’m going to wait till a bit nearer the time before booking anything else.

With my cynical head on I think that Virgin may have offered all these flights at bargain prices to pull in thousands of interest free loans. If they have to refund in our case when April rolls around, then they’ve had the benefit of my £1800 for 4 months for nothing other than a bit of admin.
