April - change the booking or wait and see?

We’re booked for February so I think we’re definitely going to need to move it but I’m worried how much it’s going to cost so just trying to work out what to do now. So stressful!

We are very much hoping to go 24 April (until 15 May).

But we just made a back up booking with BA (flight and hotel, 1 night 3-27aug) for about 2150 pounds (2 adults, 2 teens, ams-lgw-mco and back mco-phl-ams). We only had to pay 300 euros deposit. As this is before 31 Aug 20121, we can cancel and get a voucher for the deposit.

Well that's me out (a 3rd time) after reading this:

"The Department of Health and Social Care said the UK would be one of the first countries in the world to receive the vaccine, if it was authorised, with AstraZeneca set to have as many as 4 million doses ready for the UK by the end of the year and 40 million by the end of March 2021."

That's less than 1/3rd of the population vaccinated by easter so '0' hope for us. The other vaccines are not coming any sooner. That only left the hope of testing, but the best they can do is reduce the quarantine here to 5 days. DH can't work from home 🙄

Only 4 months away and can't see things changing, so going to shift it to August or poss 2022 😭

Perhaps I should shift it to 2030 to avoid a 4th disappointment 😂

We've moved to September. It just seemed a bit less risky but who knows? We thought our first change was plenty of time for everything to sort itself out

We did too. Never had any holidays cancelled before. Was upset and got over the first one, was just grateful for my health. 2nd one was gutting, and now the 3rd cancellation in a year l... well I just feel pretty rubbish tbh. I know it's 'first world problems' and all that, but I do live for my Disney trips.

Will discuss with DH tonight whether we move to August, or Feb 2022. Ugh.

If it helps at all, we just moved ours and it ended up being so much cheaper for the beginning of September. We've actually ended up getting money back. Good luck! We'll get there at some point!

It is my hope, that by April there will be testing before departure either side so that quarantine will be either low or non existent.

That's really good! We are tied to school holidays, so inherently more expensive for us. Usually end of August isn't too bad. Otherwise will look at 2022 when the dates are released.

Ergh the dilemma of this, not sure what to do...

We're booked for end of April with Travel Republic, €1400 for 2 weeks
The BA Black Friday sale for September is so good - looking at €1300 for essentially the same holiday (€40 cancel fee as well)

I just worry April won't go ahead and the time we book for September the prices will have shot up... Somethings telling me to cancel April and book through BA directly for Sept

quick update, I called travel republic about our 2020 tickets (which were extended to sept 21) and they said i could have a full refund if needed. I think we've decided to move flights to Oct and try and get money back on car hire and tickets. Fortunately we already got a refund on the villa from our cancelled april 2020 trip but haven't rebooked yet anyway. I still think April 21 could defintely happen but the more i've looked into it, the things we had been looking forward to (hoop de doo, festival or lion king, nemo show, indiana jones, parade e.t.c ) i'm not sure will be all back to normal. Fingers crossed for you all...i keep having to remind myself that we will all get to go eventually and on the plus side we have started saving for our 2022 trip too so all being well we should get another trip 9 months later. Thanks for all your advice
