The ones from curling did not have any spikes or the like. They were flat on the underside, no pattern or anything. They wouldn't damage a wood floor, let alone a driveway.

Check these out, they do specialist shoes/overshoes for walking on ice during Curling Competitions.

I’ve tried a couple of pairs of boots from Amazon. Still no success. I would prefer boots rather than the overshoes. Any suggestions of the perfect non slip boots that won’t break the bank?

Sorels! The best winter boots I've ever bought, my first pair I bought 4 years ago and they're still going strong. Lasted me four Canadian winters so far and we get snow for 6 months!

Thank you. I’ll have a look for them. Do they hold up in the frost and ice?

I have Jack Wolfskin walking boots which are non slip mine are from Amazon

Ugg Willcox which are brown leather calf boots with a sheepskin lining and non slip sole
Ugg Aurea Black suede ankle boots with a rubber sole

Timberland Eleanor grey suede with a rubber sole, but the heel is a bit high

Remonte calf length boots with a rubber sole ...all are good and helpful in slippy weather

And a brand new pair of Sorels which I hope are as good as they say !

I have a pair of the traditional Timberland 6 inch boots for walking when it’s icy. The soles are the only ones I have never slipped in.

I'm the same OP!
I feel like my legs are jelly on slippy surfaces and just can't walk without hanging on to someone.

I got a pair of Snowboots from Next (their own make so only about £50). They've held up over 6 winters and were perfect on a trip to Iceland. Waterproof, warm, very comfortable, totally rock solid on ice/snow. Definitely better than my expensive walking boots!
