Rope drop queues v Early EMH queues
During peak seasonal times for the big attractions ( such as FoP) is there any difference between the queues at the start of early EMH or rope drop on a usual park opening day?
Thank you |

There will be less queues at early EMH than at rope drop on a non-EMH day.
For EMH, only onsite guests will be queuing (there are less onsite guests than offsite) and it’ll be an hour earlier than regular opening (the early start will tend to put some people off). At rope drop on a normal day, both offsite and onsite guests will be there queuing.

Rope drop is when the park officially opens.
Sometime before the park opens, the staff let you part way into the park and then hold a rope across a pathway stopping you going any further. Then, at the official opening time, they “drop the rope” and let you enter the rest of the park and onto the rides. So, for example, at Magic Kingdom they let you into Main Street and all the way up to the hub in front of the castle at least 45 minutes before the official opening time (9am). Ropes stop you from entering into any of the lands. Then, just before the official opening time, there is a little song and dance ceremony in front of the castle and then they drop the ropes, letting you in. Magic Kingdom is the only park that does a proper ‘rope drop’ opening ceremony (although even that is a shadow of its former self, apparently).
