BA flydrive child car seats
Does anyone know how much Avis charge you for the car seats? On the BA site I can request them but no indication of cost and Avis make a separate charge for them when you pick car up.
Also what car seats do they give you? |

This is the Avis.com link. It gives you the 4 types of seat and the price charged locally. Namely $13 per day to a max of $65 in total.
Maybe different though booking via the UK avis/en/products-and...ildsafetyseats

Very interesting (and does say depending on location). Some friends of mine arrived at FLL in Aug and were quoted just under $15 a day (with tax) but did not max out at $65 (or $80 with tax) they wanted the rate for the full 14 days so they left it and went to a walmart and brough some which delayed them a few hours. At the $65 ($80 incl) they would have taken it. If this was a agent commission con they lost out big time.

You can take yours for free on BA for kids under 10? Might be a better option?

Our current car seats are massive bulky things with built in ISO Fix bases, it's a pain having to take it out of the car and into the house let alone carrying it round an airport.
Buying a cheaper light weight one could be an option or trip to Walmart. I don't want the savings I am making flying to Tampa to be wiped out by a massive extra charge to rent car seats! |

The problem with the Walmart trip is the child or children have to stay at the airport with an adult whilst you make the trip. That could take an hour at least. Plus they will have to be pre ordered to ensure they have them - probably via click and collect.
Surely the best option would be to buy some light weight one(s) beforehand and if they aren't needed again sell them on E bay when back home.
