iPhone 12

Has anyone who previously used a bigger iPhone gone for the the iPhone 12 Mini?

My XR battery is declining and I want to sell it on, and replace it with the iPhone 12, but not sure whether to get the regular or Mini.

I'm used to the size of the XR but it is annoying trying to squeeze it into the back of running tights or pockets of jeans. Equally, I'm worried the Mini is too small, though it seems not to be much smaller than the XS I use for work.

Any feedback on the regular or Mini iPhone 12 welcomed

I had an XR and now have the 12 regular. The regular is slightly smaller than the XR, not by a huge amount, but it is noticeable. I wouldn’t have wanted to go smaller.
What I will say is that I wouldn’t have upgraded, my XR was fab, the battery was still really good, and the 12 doesn’t really offer me much else. My husband bought it for me so that my SIL could upgrade to the XR as she was still on my old 6S.
Bizarrely the battery on the 12 lasts me less time than my 2 year old XR. It gets through the day don’t get me wrong, but it’s sometimes at 20% by bedtime.

I have the 12 mini and it’s small. Slightly smaller than a standard IPhone 8, but the screen is larger. It’s a great size for runners and men with tight trousers😀

I really think you need to see one before buying just in case it is too small.

I have the iphone 12pro and the screen size is about right. Any smaller and I wouldn’t be able to see it but I am getting on 🤣

The camera is better than my iphone 11pro and it is a bit thicker oh and the screen quality is better but other than than not that much difference. Mine was a gift - I wouldn’t have changed it otherwise!

The iphone 12 is a fair bit lighter and smaller than the 11 (which is roughly similar to the XR). Apple have reduced the battery size in the 12 by 10% from the 11 (2815mAh v 3100 mAh). I would suspect the 12 mini has similar reduced battery capacity and therefore battery life.

That makes sense! Can’t say I’m super impressed by the battery life of the 12. Mind you the XR was so good

Thanks for your replies. Maybe I should stick with my XR, despite the declining battery. Apart from that annoyance, it does everything I need (and probably more).

I have the mini 12 and it’s a perfect size, it’s probably the best iPhone I have had and I’ve had most of them😬

What is your battery capacity at? My XR didn’t really reduce much, was still in the 90’s 2 years in. You can replace a battery too of course.
Don’t get me wrong the 12 is a lovely phone, but I just haven’t been wowed.

I have recently upgraded from the XR to the 12 regular. I like it, but it is so similar to the XR. However, upgrading depends on your contract etc. My xr was on contract which was at an end, I upgraded to the 12, get unlimited everything, it’s £9 per month cheaper and I got £240 cash for my xr. Those were the reasons I upgraded, it was worth it for me, but I really think it depends on your ccircumstances.
