Hi Mazzy, FIL wouldn't consider it, because she still knows who we all are. It is weird, she can't dress herself, feed herself or go to the toilet on her own but she still knows us all. If she got to the stage of not knowing then it would be easier to get her into care, but she won't leave FIL alone, she follows him and she can't see very well now either and if she can't hear him she is calling for him. She even accused him and her sister of having an affair when her sister came up to visit. I think the final straw for daycare was when he picked her up this Tuesday and as he walked in the day she shouted at him that he had been out looking at other women

My mum was 38 when she had me, and Dad was 40, he died over 6 years ago, so she is on her own in London, she has my sister round the corner, and she doesn't have any children and works part time so she helps her, thank goodness. Although I didn't get on with my Dad he never wanted me, I was bought up being told I should have been a boy and anything I did was never good enough, but that's another story.

DH is calling into his Mum and Dad's on the way home, so I will find out when he gets back if I am needed for 'Nanny sitting'.

Parents, and kids they are as much worry as each other.

Sorry to hear about your Mum, as you say I don't think you ever feel old enough to be left without them, if you get on with them it must be really hard.

Your poor FIL must be climbing the walls, how awful to have his own wife saying those things to him. I can understand how hard it would be to put your spouse into care, it's just a terrible situation to be in and impossible to know what is the right thing to do.

I'm glad to hear your Mum has your sister nearby, my mum was the same as my two older sisters lived nearby, so that really helped in her day to day care keeping her from going into a home.

Hope the Nanny Sitting goes OK if you do go, it's great that FIL and hubby will be able to spend some time together, it's just what he needs.

I hope FIL and DH manage to get out this evening, it will do them good. Yes believe me, DH is feeling VERY guilty, I spoke to him on the phone this morning and he was trying to change the subject!

You have a great weekend yourself, hope it's a relaxing one!
