A relative of mine had "Don't Stop me Now" by Queen, and why not, it was a favourite of his.Nothing wrong wth up tempo.
I recently attended a humanist funeral where the deceased had planned everything to the letter. She chose a Florence and the Machine song I wasn't previously familiar with called "So big, so beautiful, so blue". Not up tempo but was absolutely beautiful and we all sobbed our hearts out

At my mums funeral last month we had traditional hymns in church but for the crematorium we also had Lucky Lips and Sweet Caroline cause she was a massive Cliff and Neil Diamond fan. Years ago I went to my friends mum's funeral and the vicar made us all get up and dance to Barry Whites my first my last my everything cause that was her wish x

We had the theme tune from Minder at my dads funeral. He always fancied himself as a bit of an Arthur Daly. It would have made him smile.

It's amazing what songs are already in the books for the crematoriums I don't think anything is really out of place. I did work experience at a funeral home when I was 15 and at the time "My Way" by Frank Sinatra was popular alongside "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life".
Some stand outs: Disco Inferno by The Trammps Another One Bites The Dust by Queen I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor Highway to Hell by ACDC Things Can Only Get Better by D:Ream I'm Still Standing by Elton John |

My grandma was a massive boyzone fan and she had asked for the bands songs to be played so that's what she got. My grandma was 89 when she passed

That's so funny, I thought the average age for a Boyzone fan was about 10!
I will want Stairway to Heaven at my funeral, not just yet though!

When we planned my dad's funeral, the celebrant suggested 1 quiet one to come in to, 1 contemplative mid service ( we watched a slideshow of photos to this music) and one upbeat one to leave to. It worked well for us.
My MIL had Bring me sunshine ' as the music to leave to! Made everyone smile!

Very sadly a friends son drowned a few years ago he always said to his mum he wanted another one bites the dust by Queen.
She abided by his wishes which was brave I think as he had a big funeral in the catholic cathedral before the crem . The priest walked out of the crem when it was played
