15 seater - about to book it!

Morning all,
I have had some advice from you on here last month on another thread and we are now about to book. We are booking a 15 seater through VH for 14th-28th April from MCO (first timers - family of 10 or 11). We have decided against COTD and are going to drive it ourselves to the villa (as recommended by others on here). We have nominated our driver, who can't have a wine on the plane!

2 questions though...
Our price is £908.73 Fully Inclusive & 2 drivers
OR plus £84 for Gold Insurance. Do we need Gold?

Also, GPS (is this a sat nav?) is an additional £80. Do we need GPS?

Thank you,
MrsG1973

Hi,
I have found the answer to our first question on another thread. and I think rather than just be limited to 2 drivers out of our 7, we will upgrade to the Gold insurance. That seems to be the main difference.

So only the GPS advice please? I am a good map reader!

With gold you get a tank of fuel included too.

I’d use an app on your phone for a sat nav.mlots to choose from. I don’t use that, because I have my own sat nav, but if I didn’t that would be the way I’d do it.
Search on here for info, lots have posted about them

Side note. You sure you'll get all your luggage in it from the airport?

Did you consider 2 smaller vehicles? Would allow more flexibility with peoples plans which in a big group could save any arguments etc. otherwise, you're tying everyone to the same plans all the time every day.

Hi MrPenguin,
Thank you for your reply... I hope we will get all the luggage in! We will have 4 or 5 seats spare so we thought that would be okay. Do you know differently? 🙈
We did consider 2 vehicles but cost was higher with 2 daily parking charges etc and we think it will be fun all together. (We may regret this lol) But will use the odd Uber here and there too.

We had a 15 seater in October for 8 adults, we had a suitcase each and were left with a seat each. Unless you travel light I think you'll find it difficult to fit 11 people plus luggage I'm afraid.

Surely you get one case on the floor in front of each empty seat, one case on each seat and one case on top of case on floor, between the one on the seat and the back of the seat in front.
With four empty seats, that gives 12 cases plus the floor space on the isle.

As long as you get to your accommodation you should be OK. Yes a bit of a squeeze.

If in doubt take a couple long tie down straps or bungees and you can stack to the roof, the straps stopping the cases coming forward.. After all the vehicle is based on a Transit van type body

You may just cram 11 in, we get a 12/15 for 6 but that gives plenty of room .

Re sat nav. I don't like using it on a phone, much prefer the latest Tom Tom's well worth the 120 quid or so with Worldwide maps. It's lifetime updates. Well worth the money.

Hi,
Thank you all for your advice.
We are hoping that we will get everything and everybody in! Worse case scenario, we will have to do 2 journeys.

There probably won't be a case each - more like 3 cases between our family of 4 etc. So maybe 8 or 9 cases.
