Spectrolee - Day 8 - The Fingers Crossed Trip Epcot 10k And Kidani Village
An early start for me Eva and Matt this morning. We got the bus at 3am from Wilderness Lodge over to Epcot for our 10k run. There were photo pass photographers all round the route, and instructions on how to get the photos was on the back of the bib number This was great fun! We are not the fastest runners, so we didn't stop to get any character pictures on the way round the race (there were some fantastic ones available, including Gepetto at the Italy pavilion) If we ever have the chance to have a trip at the same time as an event again we will definitely do more training and do each race like Matt did. Post race snacks were provided Here is the route that logged on my Apple Watch We moved resort today over to Animal Kingdom, Kidani Village. We had booked Animal Kingdom as our park today, but the incoming thunderstorm soon put a stop to that. While waiting for our room to become available we checked out the store, the community room and popped over to the Mara for a quick service lunch Lots of activities available. We always think we'll have some resort days and use these services but always end up at the park or in a pool. Marrakesh Falafal Patter Kids cheeseburger - didn't stay on the plate long enough for a photo Chicken Caesar salad Flamingos outside the AKL pool Don't have many photos from today as the skies opened up just after this. This was the Uzima Springs pool at AKL - the Samawati pool at Kidani was closed during our trip. This was a real shame as we really didn't like the layout of this pool. The majority of the sun loungers were outside of the pool area which was weird, the whole layout was just really off putting. Showers and hairdryers are available at the pool. We noted a real difference here also compared to boulder ridge pool at Wilderness Lodge. It was really dated, and in need of some refurbishment or cleaning. We went into the arcade just as the rain started. After paying for a few games the thunderstorm hit the area and the cast members put all the games on free play, this was a lovely gesture and was a great way to kill some time til our room was ready We got a fabulous 2 bed villa at Kidani - miles away from the lobby, but the parking is great here. It's on the ground floor under the rooms. Our room was right at the Zazu elevator- made taking the cases to the room a breeze. There are two pull out beds in the living room - this was the smaller one. The pull outs are very uncomfortable compared to wilderness lodge ones. You could feel the bars through the mattress. Room with a view We got a couple of family meals from Panda Express. For 30 dollars you get 2 sides plus 3 entrees The place had orders flying out the door. Looks a bit messy here, but it was all really good and fresh Joni doing some knitting We headed to bed early- Matt is doing the 10 miler in the morning |
