Did this get sorted? I’m hearing more and more people having the full BA pre-paid charge pending on their credit cards which in some cases is thousands!

You obviously gave them your credit card details at some stage. If you have gone straight to the garage you wouldn't you have signed something before they allowed you to drive off?

Everyone who pre-signs up to preferred gives them your credit card details though. It appears Avis are using that card for the full pre-authorisation amount. Just have to hope that the card isn’t actually charged, instead the final charge goes to BA. It’s why you must get a receipt before leaving the airport, even if that means going to the garage or desk to get one and check it.

I'm aware i'm not the original poster, but was in a similar situation (https://DIBB.in/15519014) and the BA Duty Office were able to sort this out for me within the week (with the pending charge of $1800 dropping off my card almost immediately)... almost.

When we went to drop the car off at the end of our trip, in order to fix the issue, Avis had closed my original rental, and opened a new one with a zero balance. This meant that according to Avis I hadn't checked the car out, so it meant a 40 minute wait at the Preferred Desk with a very confused agent to sort it out - They also had to scan my card again to add a holding deposit, as it wouldn't let them close it off without one being there - this dropped off a couple of days after.

It’s happened to my brother in law in Chicago this week which is why I brought it up again, I’ll pass the info on so thanks. They have a £1750 pending pre-authorisation transaction on a £3500 limit credit card they are wanting to use on holiday. It appears AVIS really don’t understand how to process this BA voucher unfortunately at some depots.

Do you have an email address for BA I can pass on at all?
Cheers

Sure thing - email was duty.office@holidays.ba.com

Provided my booking ref, details of what had gone wrong and contact telephone number and they rang me back the next day.

Thanks. Will pass on. It’s seems a total cock-up. He said he even presented the desk with the BA pre-paid voucher or what ever they give you. Think I’m going to use Alamo for my October trip as it’s not worth all the hassle.
