I had an abscess a few yrs ago over xmas time, the worse pain I've ever experienced, when I finally got an appointment I can tell you I jumped into that chair.
Goodluck to you and hope all settles down before your holiday 🙂

Ouch you poor thing! That’s nasty.
I’m sure you’ve considered this but if there’s a higher than usual chance of you needing to seek healthcare on your holiday probably worth letting your health insurance provider know? Just so they don’t wiggle out of paying should you need to use it. We had a recent situation with our daughter having a persistent ear infection 9 days before travel - they agreed to cover her after asking some detailed questions about when we’d booked/paid for the the holiday and the treatment she was on etc.

Thanks. I just assumed it wouldn’t be covered but I will give them a call. It’s M&S and the one time we did need them they were great.
