LAX immigration - over 2 hours!
Arrived yesterday at 3pm with BA. Heathrow was a breeze to be fair! Immigration at LAX was absolutely packed and barely any air con. Took over two hours to get through.
On the plus side, thanks to Megaflyer and others for recommending Affordable Town Car Company. Poor guy waited over two hours for us! Thought we’d been sent home! Said it’s the longest wait he’d had in a long while for passengers to clear immigration. Disneyland first visit today!

Oh gosh, I haven't been through immigration in LAX in years as I now fly from Dublin and do preclearance there.
I'm so used to just walking off the plane and straight to bag reclaim that I can't imagine being stuck for 2 hours |

Wow quite a wait at Immigration.
I have Affordable Town Cars booked as well, I paid the deposit, can I just check, did you pay the driver the rest owed, including all tips, assuming you booked a return trip, or did you pay him for the first journey including tip and then pay the return driver for the return including his tip? Hope you have a fabulous holiday.

I was there 3 weeks ago and it was the same, 2 hours stuck in that dingy hall. First half of the queue took ages, endless switch backs barely moving, but seemed to speed up about 90 mins in.

Yes. It was similar for us at LAX earlier this month. The plane landed at 7:30pm and we queued for 1.5 hours for immigration ☹️

We're flying into LA next week from NYC - luckily (I hope!) we are flying into John Wayne Orange County airport. It is a bit nearer to Disney Land, so hope it pays off for us. 90 minute wait - what a start to the holiday!

That’s why I flew into San Jose yesterday - I couldn’t face LAX or SFO again. It took 20 minutes from the plane hitting the tarmac to being in the hire car.
Unfortunately, the late afternoon flight means that much of the first day has gone anyway! |

Yikes 😬
Is it always like that? Not flying until November but have booked a car offsite and need to pick up within 2 hours… wondering if we’ll make it now… |

It is very often like that at LAX, though not always. I went through recently and it was around 90 mins. It was made all the worse by the fact that I have Global Entry and could have been through in 90 seconds, but had non-GE travelling companions with me, and no point deserting them.
It’s not a recent thing, immigration has frequently been a challenge at LAX for the last 20 years, I can remember some hideous queues (3+ hours) in the years immediately after 9/11. I’ve mostly avoided the queues for the last few years via GE. Edited at 01:28 AM. |
