No more school holidays !

This is the first year for me in a very long time we no longer have school holidays or term times. My youngest has finished college and not wanting to go to Uni so working this year and maybe apply for apprenticeships next. It feels strange, after so long its over, good points are we can book trips away or days out in term times which are quieter and breaks cheaper, but do miss our days out and times together on the long 6 week summer holiday !

Anyone else?

Me too! I've recently retired after 22 years as a classroom assistant, DS started school before that so first term time holiday since 1995.

Its great feeling! After primary, secondary, 6th form then university, we finally were able to book a holiday any time of the year, so we did, and then Soph got a job in a school so we've had to move the holiday and are now back in school holidays

As long as she wants to come with us that is! But as I said to my Husband, I fell lucky that she still wants to come with us, so its a price we have to pay for that privilege

I'm now the only family member who's tied to school Holidays. Which is frustrating... I went to a school job so I'd be available for the kids in the holidays and that's not an issue anymore.
I'd like to break free from the school holidays constraint.

Similar for me. DH is glad he no longer needs to justify applying for school holiday time leave as despite having no children at school he still wanted to be able to go on holiday with me!

This will be our last 6 weeks holiday as our son has just finished Y12. He’s back in September to finish his A levels, but isn’t planning on going to Uni, he wants to do an apprenticeship.

It’s not going to be the usual 6 weeks for us though, as he starts his first part time job tomorrow.

Must admit, we’ve been looking forward to being free of school holiday restrictions for a long 20 years 😆

Years ago I remember one British holiday company phoning me to ask why I hadn't booked despite enquiring about their mid week breaks. I replied that it was because they didn’t offer these during school holidays. The person then said I was allowed to take children out of school for up to two weeks in term time (as was the case then). I did say that the school might miss me though as I was the teacher.

We had a few years free of school holidays ( though I took mine out anyway )

But now my granddaughter starts school in Sept .
She will come out of school for some trips , but I’m sure we will have to have some holidays in school holidays .

Yes its kind of liberating ! Booked CP in March for £500 whereas normally it was way too expensive. Feels weird though, kinda miss my 6 weeks holiday calendar with the kids at times.
