Anxiety? Why?

We go in three days and haven’t slept properly in nearly 2 weeks,
Heat isn’t helping but I’m going to bed around 11 and waking between 1 and 2 then struggling to go back to sleep if at all.


My mum is having Archie our 10 year old chihuahua, and normally she has the same time off work as us to look after him. This year her holiday leave was refused and she wants to stay at her house instead of staying at ours so I think that’s what’s causing it and guilt leaving him as he has separation anxiety (think I do too to be honest!)

I’m almost on the verge of not wanting to go at all lol
Mum is having him tomorrow evening onwards and we leave for the airport Tuesday morning to Bristol with a trip to bath to see a dental specialist due to breaking a tooth last year in march on a pip from some mango chutney.

As we will be there early I think we will head to cribbs causeway and TGIs for tea.

Please tell me I’m not the only one who gets anxiety?

You’ve just described how we’re feeling and we go September 1st 😂

I don’t know if it’s because everything is sorted and we’re just waiting for the day to come now lol.

We’re leaving our 1 year old Lab at home to for the first time. We know he’ll be ok with my partners mum though lol

Yep! I’ve been like this for a few days now. As you say, the heat hasn’t helped and last night I was woken by a spider running up my arm at 4am so that was that.
Hopefully once we’re on the plane, we’ll all be ok.

You’re tired from lack of sleep. Your mum is used to looking after him the only difference is it’s at her home around her work. Your mum is used to having Archie (albeit at yours) Archie is used to your mum which I’d prefer to kennels myself. He knows your mum, so don’t feel guilt.

Try to chill and enjoy your holiday.

I always used to struggle on travel days and DH pointed out how moody I was. Covid came along and we changed our holiday plans but still managed to get away each year. I’ve managed to develop full blown travel anxiety. I have so much respect for people who suffer this all the time. As you’ve mentioned I can’t sleep or eat in the build up.

I'm always the same. We are cruising in two weeks and I'm starting to wonder why.

But I know once we are there I will love it. It's just the worry of paperwork / travel / packing etc which stresses me beforehand.

You’ve captured the way I always feel completely. Planning holidays is something I love but just before I go I have exactly the same wobble every time. As we were heading to Southampton, there was part of me that could happily have turned round, picked up the dogs and gone home, but once we were checking in and got onto the ship, I loved it. When we’re flying though, a big part for me is anxiety.

In a way, it’s a relief to know it’s not just me. DH thinks I’m crazy!

I’m always the same, even though I love our holidays. I feel guilty leaving the pets even though I leave them well cared for but they’re getting older and our son has his own dog now so our dog doesn’t get their undivided attention so feels a bit put out. Plus I think we are all feeling anxious since covid too

We went to Athens 3 weeks ago, and our 15 year old cat was poorly just before we went. I was so close to cancelling but I did finally go. I rang home and checked on our cat, who my SiL comes up to look after several times a day, and he was feeling better as soon as we went away which made me feel more settled. We had a wonderful time, I’m now looking forward to DLP in 3 weeks time and I’ve just booked a short break in Alcudia in October for DH and myself. I’m sure I’ll still get anxious and stress in the run up to the holiday though.
