My neighbour comes out screaming if anyone parks over her drive, nobody really does it round here but it might be a delivery driver for a few minutes. It’s if you have a dropped kerb they shouldn’t park there but can if you don’t I think!

There must be local bylaws in this case as it is not illegal to park across a driveway unless you are blocking someone in without those bylaws.
So unless everyplace does that or a national law changes it can't go national. Typically the issue tends to be around schools or similar public locations. Banning parking within half a mile and getting people walking would be a better solution. Parking opposite a driveway can be an issue, but banning this in many places would leave whole streets off limits and what would residents do then? You can then throw in parking on the pavement, banned in London but would cause chaos if introduced nationally. But the benefits to non drivers would be huge. Consideration and common sense who solve most issues but that is far from universal. |

Where we live on sunny canvey, when the houses were built the council alocated .2 of a car per houshold, most familys in my road have 3 min per household the only parking availible is the grass outside the house, and we get fined for parking on that.

I detest people like that who have a drive with plenty of room to park on but choose to be idiots and park outside their house to inconvenience others.
Our elderly neighbour needs to give up driving immediately (if not sooner), because he is a danger. He takes a day to park in a space bigger enough for a 747 to land in, and he still hits cars. Some months back my wife parked on the road (spaces were filled on our drive), and when we came out his rear bumper was pushed into my wifes car distorting her front bumper. I knocked on his door and politely made him aware of the above, and he was completely oblivious. I asked if his rear parking sensors were working and he said they were, but he didn't hear them? |

When our next door neighbours have visitors deliverys or someone doing work they often park across our drive and it really annoys me.
A few weeks ago I asked someone to move as I was going out and he couldnt understand why as we've paved most of our garden and they all seem to think we should just drive across where the kerb is high. Most of them don't like it when I insist on them moving so we can drive across where the kerb is dropped they also don't like it when I ask them not to do it again.

I sooooo love our 70s open plan cul-de-sac...
every house has a driveway for 3-4cars, outside of this there is a large tarmac square that we are arranged around - large meaning about 40-50 foot across - the only time it gets anywhere near "congested" is Easter or Christmas Day. But shhhhhhhh... it is a secret as it is tucked away about 200 yards from an ever expanding Primary school, once one parent finds it we will be chokka twice a day... |

We’ve got the fine system here to, all houses have private off road parking for 2-3 cars, the problem comes when there’s a lot of work vans or people have more cars. All we have to do is take a photo of any car parked over a dropped kerb/driveway and the council issues a fine. We have a school down our road but since this fine system was brought in people appear to be parking more considerately.

This school thing makes me laugh. I see the time the neighbours leave to pick their kids up to get a parking space at the school. You could walk there in less time. This is all year round not just in bad weather. There's even a short cut through the alleys that means you don't have to go on the main road which they all park on so have to walk along.
