Key West- 2 or 3 nights?
I’m planning a Keys road trip next year and my original plan was 2 nights Key Largo, 2 nights Key West, 2 nights Marathon. I’ve found a really good deal for 3 nights in Key West, would that be reasonable? Enough to do?

We went to Key West in 2015. I booked 3 night on Key West and intended to visit the other Keys, but there was so much to do on Key West itself, also parking where we were staying was limited, so we decided to leave the car and stay put.
We did the Hop on Hop off Old Town Trolley bus, this is was valid for 2 full days. Visited the Aquarium, the ship wreck museum, Eco Discovery Center (this is free and really interesting), we did a glas bottom boat trip (OK but nothing special) and a Boat trip to snorkel on the reef (this was absolutely amazing). We watched the sunset from Mallory Square and also watched the Cat Show just round the corner from the square (again brilliant). Could easily have spent another couple of days here. |

There's definitely enough to fill 3 nights. We're going for our 7th trip in June. Where are you looking to book? I booked the Lighthouse hotel at the weekend

We have a Keys road trip this coming August following our cruise - two nights Key West, two nights Key Largo.
We were going to do three KW, but pared it back to have an extra night on I-Drive at the end so we have more time at Universal parks... dunno if I'm regretting paring it back or not, yet? We're stopping at the Pier House Resort and Spa, so maybe be regretting it at checkout! |

We did the Keys in 2015 on our honeymoon. Took a week to drive down from Miami, with overnight stays in Key Largo, Marathon, and Key West. We did 3 nights there - definitely plenty to do to fill the days, but it does depend a little bit on what you're like. We're not big drinkers so the nightlife didn't appeal to us much, there seemed to be a LOT of drunken tourists once the sun went down. We just went back to the hotel after dinner and relaxed! We loved all the daytime stuff though, from the Trolley Tour to the Butterfly Conservatory and just wandering around! We'd also booked a seaplane trip to Fort Jefferson for snorkeling but unfortunately that got cancelled because of the weather - it did nothing but rain that day! :/ It was a great trip, you'll find plenty to do at all stops!

This is exactly what we've done too - Key Largo (JP Park), Marathon (Turtle Hospital, Key Deer area) and 3 nights at Key West in West Winds Hotel on Eton Street. Really good price, amazing pools and gardens and walkable to Mallory Square, Port and Duval Street. Adore Key West and have been 3 times!
