BA flydrive

Hey. Im praying i will get a great BA flydrive deal for my 2022 holiday.
I have already booked my car hire.
If i get a great deal including the car then i will cancel my booking as its free. If i get a good deal but adding the 7 seater makes it alot dearer, can i do what i did with virgin and just pick the tiny standard car and just not collect it?

Absolutely. Just add on the cheapest car possible and don't collect it. The car hire company won't tell BA - not that they would care anyway. The hire company would have been paid up-front so it's no skin off their nose.

or book a cheap motel first night, gives same benefit but reduces the outlay

There have been some great deals on BA fly drive for Sep 21.
unfortunately I don't think we will be in a position to go or if we did restrictions would ruin the holiday so we are waiting for May 22.

I fear for 2022 prices. Either 2021 summer happens and BA etc have "given away" seats at low prices and they'll need to recover that in 2022 or worse if there's loads of cancellations in summer 2021 they'll really have to recover losses in 2022 and there will be lots of demand - effectively three years (20,21 and 22) demand in one.

I know it really concerns me. I got a quote if i book now and its so expensive but im so scared of things being even worse by waiting. Times like this we need a crystal ball ha x

I don’t believe. that is right. My understanding is they get paid when the traveller picks up the car
