indirect flights and liquids

Hi all,

We are going on our first indirect flight soon.

I was wondering whether the resrictions that apply to liquids are in place when taking the second domestic flight from Atlanta to Miami.

For example if we buy drinks at duty free at manchester and the kids pick up some of those mini coke cans on the virgin plane (they like collecting them!) are we allowed to take them through security and onto the domestic flight?

Just want to be clear so we don't get into 'bother' at Atlanta.

Thanks

If you are going Manchester -ATL & Atlanta is your first stop in the USA you will need to collect your cases and drop them off for the next domestic flight and go through security with your hand luggage so no you won’t be able to take anything more than the usual restricted liquids through .

You can buy your duty free in Manchester and collect some of the mini cans from your Virgin flight but you will then need to put the liquids in your cases when you collect them in Atlanta, before dropping them off again and go through security.

I was going to say it all depends on whether or not you transition airside. If you have to collect your cases for Customs purposes, then you could potentially put the coke cans in your cases if you want to keep them.

If nobody has done the exact route you can look for the gates that are commonly used for both flights and look across more general travel forums for people that have transitioned from the 2 gate areas and whether they had to come landside in doing so.

As has been said if Atlanta is your first port of entry you will have to collect suitcases before going through customs. That will give you the opportunity to put any liquids in the cases before your internal flight.
