ah, yeah, the pin issue. not actually a breach, but they forced a load of users to change their pin as a precaution. to me, that's just sensible security procedure on their part. its not like the recent cap1/equifax data breaches...

The app-based bank says that it stores PINs in a particularly secure part of its systems, and tightly controls who at Monzo can access them, but last Friday it discovered it had also been recording some people's PINs in a different part of its internal systems which its engineers have access to. There's no suggestion anyone internally accessed the data, but it's poor practice that they could have.

I had monzo as my spending account and kept my main account for bills.

I have swapped to starling now however. The clincher for me was that starling allow you to pay in cash/ cheques etc via the post office.

I also like their roundup facility and higher cash per day levels. Again backed to £85k.
Money in the "spaces" section of starling - so like mse piggybanking approach - attracts interest at same rate as main pot. Find the app easier that monzo, but monzos insights were more useful if trying to actively manage your budget rather than bank.

That's something I need.
Thanks for posting.
Have opened Monzo today, so will start moving across money from Nationwide in the next week or so.

Will open a Starling too, probably.

I plan to use mine to properly budget for food shopping
The amount we spend is spiralling out of control especially since the school holidays - and there’s never anything for dinner !

Keep putting it off. Promised myself faithfully I would get my act in gear by the start of term.

Another Monzo user here, alongside my normal current account.

They are way ahead on technology, I know for a fact that they are giving advice to high street banks on how to improve in this area.
